STAY CONNECTED WITH LINCOLN
In an ongoing partnership between Lincoln Middle School: and Burrowes Elementary School, multilingual learners from both schools are building confidence, strengthening language skills, and forming meaningful connections that last beyond the classroom.
Each month, a group of sixth through eighth grade students from Lincoln’s ELD (English Language Development) program visits second grade ELD classrooms at Burrowes. Together, they read books focused on social-emotional learning, engage in thoughtful conversations, and create crafts tied to the themes of each story. It’s a shared experience that uplifts both younger and older learners as they grow through reading and creative collaboration.
For many of our multilingual learners, some of whom are new to the country or learning English as a third or fourth language, these visits are a chance to use their voices with purpose and confidence. Reading to younger peers builds fluency, nurtures identity, and helps them step into leadership roles. For some, it’s their first time returning to an elementary school in the U.S., and that moment is both grounding and empowering.
This is what community-based learning looks like. Rooted in trust and belonging, the Lincoln-Burrowes reading buddy program reflects what’s possible when we create space for students to grow across buildings, age groups, and experiences.

It is my pleasure to welcome you to Abraham Lincoln Middle School!
We are happy to have you as a member of our school community and we look forward to working with you. I would also like to thank you for joining us in a partnership that is dedicated to educating all of our children to reach their fullest potential. We are proud of the role we play in serving our students, their families and the Lancaster community, and it is our goal that this will be an amazing year.
Our entire staff is committed to developing engaging learning opportunities and positive relationships with all of our students and parents. We are excited to partner with you as we work to provide those opportunities every day, and we are confident that you will take full advantage of the learning opportunities provided to you in order to maximize your learning and educational experience.
